Good friends, good food, good service.
Please join us on Saturday, July 17th from 9am to noon. We will be having brunch and making baby blankets. Please bring your favorite brunch item to share as well as any extra fabric or batting you may have. We will have no babysitters but kids are welcome. No sewing or quilting experience required! Friendship
If you missed our activity on Tuesday here is the handout. We really missed all who could not make it.
What Greater Goodness Can We Know: Christ like Friends- Kathleen H. Hughes
As a Relief Society presidency, we sometimes hear women say that they don’t feel the love of the Lord. But perhaps they would feel more of His love if they looked for His hand in the actions of those who care for them. It may be a member of their branch or ward, a neighbor, or even a stranger who blesses them and manifests Christ’s love. Elder Henry B. Eyring instructed us: “You are called to represent the Savior. Your voice to testify becomes the same as His voice, your hands to lift the same as His hands” If we can lift others in Christ’s name, surely we can also be lifted.
I have been blessed throughout my life with Christ like friends—from friends of my youth to the many people who have blessed our family in all the wards we have lived in. Their faith and commitment to the gospel of Jesus Christ, their service, their wise and gentle instruction have enriched our lives. Some of my friends are very different from me. We disagree about things, and we can even irritate each other. But friendship allows for differences—in fact, it embraces them. I love to visit stakes made up of people from a variety of backgrounds, ages, and ethnic origins.
It should be obvious to each of us that our ultimate friendship should be with our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. The Savior has affectionately said to us, “I will call you friends, for you are my friends” (D&C 93:45). His greatest desire for us, His brothers and sisters, is to bring us back to our Father. And the way for us is clear: develop in our lives, to the degree that we can, the qualities and attributes of Christ. Obey His commandments and do His work and His will.

President Abraham Lincoln was once criticized for his attitude toward his enemies. “Why do you try to make friends of them?” asked an associate. “You should try to destroy them.”
“Am I not destroying my enemies,” Lincoln gently replied, “when I make them my friends?”
It was Emerson who said, “The only way to have a friend is to be one.” A friend is a person who will really take the time not only to know us, but to be with us. One of the finest presents you can give anyone is your best self.
Joseph Smith gave us a glimpse of his measure of friends when he said, “If my life is of no value to my friends, it is of no value to me.”
Our Savior pointed the way to reap friendship with our associates and with Him, when He declared, “For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
“… Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” (Matt. 25:35, 40.)

Cheesy I know, But What Can I Say?

We all have a lot going on right now so take an evening to just wind down and have fun while getting to know the sisters in your ward better! How can we be there for each other and support each other in our successes and trials if we don't even know each other?
Put 3 items in a small paper bag that reflect who you are & your personality and bring it on Tuesday.
(Be creative!)
Ever hear of speed dating? Well, let's just say we will be putting that
concept to good use in getting to know each other.
Also, please bring your favorite (creative) ice cream topping.
(Seriously, let's not have 15 bottles of chocolate syrup!)

CPR Class
On April 24th, we will be hosting an official CPR class. Brother Law is a certified CPR instructor and will be teaching the class free of charge. While the class itself is free there is a $5 fee for anyone who wishes to become officially cretified and recieve a CPR card.
The class will begin at 9am at the church and be approx 4 hours. (Time varies based on practice/passing off skills as well as number of people attending).
We must know the number of people attending ahead of time to ensure the correct number of materials,and tests, etc.. You can sign up at church or leave a comment here to let us know you will be there.
We will also be holding a snack recipe exchange (we know we'll get the munchies). Please bring your favorite treat/snack to share as well as 1 copy of the recipe.

Basic Training
Please join us this Tuesday, January 19th at 7 pm as we get back to basics. Sister Fast is going to help us get organized, and we are going to share tips for making great bread. We will also be reviwing the wonderful literacy program for this year and....we are going to have blogging 101 (no more excuses). J As we strive to find joy, not only at this season, but through our lives, we must first and foremost turn to Christ – know Him and feel His love for us.
Scripture: Through the history of time before the birth of Christ, prophets looked forward to His birth with anticipation and joy, knowing that through Him, they would find salvation. One example is that of Nephi. He wrote, “For according to the words of the prophets, the Messiah cometh in six hundred years from the time that my father left Jerusalem; and according to the words of the prophets, and also the word of the angel of God, his name shall be Jesus Christ, the Son of God… And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophesies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.” (1 Nephi 25: 19, 26)
Scripture: As the believers in the Book of Mormon awaited the sign of the birth of Christ, His coming saved their temporal lives. Just as they received physical salvation through Him, we find spiritual salvation because He lived. So we, with the believers of ancient time, can rejoice when we read, “Lift up your head and be of good cheer; for behold, the time is at hand, and on this night shall the sign be given, and on the morrow come I into the world, to show unto the world that I will fulfil all that which I have caused to be spoken by the mouth of my holy prophets.” (3 Nephi 1:13)

November Activity
Cedar Creek Relief Society Presents:
A Night of Joy
Please join us on Tuesday, November 10th at 7:00 pm. We will be getting ready for the holiday season by having a program on different ways to find joy followed by a holiday treat recipe exchange. Please bring your favorite Christmas or Thanksgiving goodie to share along with the recipe. ( Cookies, candies, bar treats, breads, popcorn, pie etc..) Recipe for Joy
1. Change “We’re not here to stay, we are just marching through”
2. Rely on the Lord
Sandbox story “use ALL the strength you have available to you!” this means ask the Lord for his help.
3. Endurance - “The only way out of it is through it!” Stop limping!
4. Attitude is everything! “Old Bitty and Little Bitty” the 86 year old lady with a great attitude.
"Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he has been robbed. The fact is that most putts don’t drop, most beef is tough, most children grow up to be just like people, most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration, and most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. Life is just like an old time rail journey ... delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders, and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride." Pres. Hinckley
5. Tools- Do we have “good medicine” What is good medicine, the temple, our meetings, the scriptures, power from the priesthood.
6. Do we know WHO we are and WHOSE we are? The story of Kapu and her husband. “If you don’t get your act together now and get sealed to me don’t you DARE do it when I die! If I’m not good enough for you now, I don’t want you then!” Luckily sister Earl listened and was able to tell him that his wife was happy and loved him so much.
Example of her calling as choir director. Satan telling her she couldn’t do it and to give up. Then after praying hearing the Father answer, “why do you keep answering the door to hear Satan say those things? You know his voice! You know those thoughts are not of the Lord! Why don’t you ask your Savior Jesus Christ for help?” She imagines asking the Lord to go to the door and answer it for her because Satan has been pounding on it. She imagines the Savior answering the door and scaring Satan off and then turning to her and embracing her and telling her He has been just waiting for her to ask for His help.”
*Joshua 1:9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
7. BE THANKFUL!
212 Degrees, the Extra Degree

Water is hot at 211 degrees it boils at 212 degrees. It makes steam when it boils and steam has the power to move a locomotive. What can we do with only 1 extra degree?
Inch by Inch life is a cinch…life by the yard, is hard.
Just one extra degree can make all the difference. We need to go the extra degree!

September Enrichment
Pampering yourself on a budget!
Sisters, please join us for our enrichment on Saturday, September 12th from 9:30am-12:30pm with amazing guest speaker Sister Earl. We will be giving ourselves facials, learning about home massage, having yummy refreshments, and doing Satin Hands. A do it yourself spa day!
Lunch will be served, if you are able please sign up at church to bring something for our luncheon. Please bring money saving tips and ideas to share or e-mail your tips to us at ccenrichment@gmail.com

June 9th Enrichment
This Is Your Life. Relief Society Enrichment, June 9th, 6:30 p.m. Dinner will be served, childcare provided. Sunday dress, please bring your patriarchal blessings.
If you signed up to bring a dinner item, please bring to church no later than 6 p.m. that evening. If you are bringing a craft or picture you can bring it to church on Sunday. (Please label all pictures) If you can not bring on Sunday please bring to Page Law, Erica Haderlie, or member of the R.S. Presidency by Monday, June 8th at 6pm.
